3. What are the people of Japan called?
The people of Japan are Japanese.
4. What language(s) is spoken in Japan?
The most widely spoken language is Japanese. It is the official language of Japan.
5. Tell me a little bit more about their country!
- Tokyo is the capital city of Japan. It's also the largest city in Japan. About 1/3rd of Japan's population lives in Tokyo.
- 75% of Japan is covered by mountains. The tallest mountain in Japan is Mt. Fuji. Mt. Fuji measures 12,390ft at it's tallest peak.
- Japan can be a dangerous place! There are over 1,000 earthquakes that happen there every year!
6. Tell me a little bit more about their culture!
- Their food and diet is quite different than the USA. Their food mostly consists of rice, fish, and vegetables but very little meat.
- On special occasions such as weddings and graduations, the people of Japan wear kimonos. They are tied with a wide belt called an obi.
- Fans are also considered a symbol of Japanese culture.
